Rehabilitation...
Returning the boys home
Since 2006 we have successfully returned 11 boys to their families. For seven of these boys, before they could go home, we had to build houses for their families, because they were living in hovels. Each simple, concrete, three roomed house costs £3350/$5000US to construct. RoH maintains contact with these boys and will continue to fund their education.
RoH has also provided funding to set up the head of the household with a small income generating business, for example rearing goats, selling charcoal, etc, with the aim of helping the family become self-sufficient.

The Future...
Restoration of Hope Centre
In September 2005 RoH purchased a plot of land, 35m x 23m, in Mutakura on the outskirts of Bujumbura. The aim is to build a permanent home for the RoH family. The initial building will comprise two apartments, each with three bedrooms, which will become home to 14 boys. At present we are in the process of building and will complete when funding becomes available.
Our aim is always to trace families and whenever possible to return boys to their original homes. The second phase of the project would involve building two further apartments to use as a half-way house between the streets and their family homes, where boys could stay for 3-12 months.
